Our Projects
The most effective way to reduce our CO2 emissions at source is through energy efficiency schemes and new renewable technology. These help ensure security of energy supply, and help the people who need it most.
Over 90% of the money distributed through our charity is used in this way. We are also on the lookout for new projects.
When you make a contribution to CarbonNeutral Newcastle you are investing in climate-friendly energy projects and tree planting in Newcastle and the north east. These are selected carefully to meet our objectives of additional CO2 reduction, and helping the economy and communities of the North East.
We support CO2 reducing projects, such as technologies in transition, which would not otherwise happen. Our projects selection procedures are overseen by the programme directors and independant technical experts.
Note. Due to technical changes, brought about by the introduction pf the Kyoto Protocol in January 2008, these projects are not eligible as CarbonNeutral balance. If you would like to achieve CarbonNeutral status, we will help facilitate the purchase of balance through our partners, the CarbonNeutral company.
