CarbonNeutral Newcastle's Supporters
The Northern Rock Foundation
Northern Rock Foundation is an independent grant-making organisation. Formed in 1997, the Foundation recognises the commitment of Northern Rock to the community, and invests approximately 5% of its pre tax profits each year. The Foundation hopes to reach as many disadvantaged groups and others who can benefit from its grants as possible. The Foundation supports exploration and experiment, including new ways to address disadvantage, such as the public attitudes research.
Government Office for the North East (GONE)
GONE helps create sustainable communities and maximise competitiveness and prosperity in the region. They are board members of the North East Energy Partnership (NEEP) and form the link into Government policy on Energy. NEEP oversees and co-ordinates regional activity to deliver the North East's response to the Energy White Paper, including identifying and overcoming barriers to renewable energy generation, promoting greater energy efficiency and reducing demand, and promoting awareness. GONE supported the public attitudes research and work with CarbonNeutral Newcastle to promote awareness and action on CO2 reduction.
Culture 10
NewcastleGateshead has launched a 10 year programme of cultural ideas, innovation, investment and promotion, 'Culture10'. The Tall Ships came to Newcastle in June 2005 and featured sustainability issues as part of its 'wind and the sea' theme. Culture10 sponsored CarbonNeutral Newcastle to promote climate change action, with on-street promotional presence, an interactive quiz and a stand in its eco-tent.
